Thanks for your response. This is still no go for me. I will try to test on a remote web server, different platform (WIN, Mac) and with different player. I'll let you know the outcome of that. Sorry for being late on commenting on this issue due to the nature of my job which requres a lot of traveling.

That error message isn't very helpful, is it?! I wish they'd give us a bit more to go on. Have you been able to play this same video in another video player, or via a web server? Just want to be sure the video is not corrupt... Permissions shouldn't be the issue, especially since the thumbnail is working fine...

my src url is pointing to the video link on a local folder. something like this:

src: "video/example.flv"

the test index.html page is showing the poster image on the playback player but if I click the play button I get the "playback failed null" message. I am testing on a fedora 15 Linux pc using Firfox. Does testing locally require installing Adobe Flash on a local machine and set folder permissions from within Flash to allow the playback?

That's certainly possible. You could just set up a playlist and use the FMS live stream URLS for the various clips, and switch between them.

Here's a link to the latest dynamic playlist tutorial: https://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/video_player.html
And here is an older article where I show you how to set up the streaming URLs https://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/video_playlist.html

Hope that helps,
// Lisa

I can not tell my problem with a video because the problem is my cell phone.
The LG phones from any provider are crap!
I am going through sprint and their policies are crap and unmoral!
The LG optimus is over heating while not in use, in my pocket almost scolding my skin, then shorty after the battery is drained.
Each phone purchased one must sign a 2 yr contract, the phone only last 1 yr (I have 2 of those phones) then if you do not pay more money for an upgrade, or pay for a refurbished unit (same brand), your pretty much screwed holding a 1 yr contract with a broken phone..That is fricken wrong!
If they are going to make people sign a contract they need back up the warranty of phones for the same time frame.

Then you have all the different locations who do not abide by the policies of Sprint, they have their own policies and no sense in visiting one of those stores if you have an issue.

So basically this is how they work, making you sign a 2 yr contract and receive a discount on a phone upon signing, then their phones only last one yr leaving you 1 yr of contract with a broken phone or making you spend more money to use because your enforced into that second yr of contract or pay out the kazoo if you don't want their service anymore.

This is Sprint, I am sure other companies have their immoral issues as well.

Almost every one in this world is crap!

Hi Ryan,
This comment slipped past me, sorry for the delay. If you haven't solved this already (which I hope you have!) ... Yes, you should be able to capture your webcam in Flash Player and send the stream to FMS. Perhaps its a syntax issue in AS3? (I definitely recommend using AS3 over AS2) If you'd like to post your code I could take a look.

cheers,
// Lisa
