I’ve squeezed in a couple of more episodes of Flash 411 (the baby’s coming soon!)… Here’s episode 3, which posted last week:

Lisa, I have been following your instructions for the Flash video template: Dynamic video playlist with AS3 that you posted on the Adobe Developer Connection website. I am actually trying to insert this player and playlist into an already created flash project. I have a website that I’ve created in flash and one of the cells is a video page where I want to display my portfolio of video work.
Is there any way to manipulate this video into my already created project, or must it be its own fla file and swf?
Hi James,
(Sorry for the delay; I was just getting home from the hospital with my new little one when you submitted this!)
You can certainly work the Playlist example into your existing FLA; you’d just need to either load it in as an external SWF, or create an instance of the Video Player class in your existing FLA. It may be simpler to load it in, especially if you are just getting started with AS3.
Hope this helps. If you still have trouble, please post details and I’ll help as much as I can.
cheers // Lisa
Hey Lisa! I used your playlist example in my website, it works like a charm. I have a flash video question that’s driving me nuts. I’m designing a movie trailer website. I load a simple loader center stage, and as users click buttons, different .swfs drop into (and out of) the loader. One is a movie trailer – it falls in and plays no problem, but when any other button is pushed, the player disappears but not the sound. What am I not understanding about the FLVPlayer Component? Why doesn’t it play like other Display Objects?
This video doesn’t appear to work anymore.
Seems to be working for me! Maybe a temporary glitch at adobe.tv?
I’m impressed with the Dreamweaver implementation. It’s so easy to do implement flash video now.
Good stuff!
