Flash video n' related stuff
Well, after an inspirational and informative intro to Flex 3 at last night’s FCNY meeting by Seth and Brian of 9Mmedia, I’m feeling ready to take the leap into Flex development!
My first project will be an ambitious one; porting my iFoxCam FMS application over to Flex and FMS3 (from, ahem, AS1 and FMS1.5). It’s about time, I say!
So I’ll be posting about video and data integration in Flex as I go along. Watch this space for tips and lessons learned.

Go Lisa go! You are gonna rock it out and never look back. I’m looking forward to seeing how it turns out.
Lisa:
I know you could do it.
Flex its just AS3 without the timeline. I know you can paint the town red and make it work. Let me know if you need help. I am here to lend a helping hand.
What would you recommend? Flex 3 for $250 or Flex Builder (Pro) for $699?
@Greg
It depends what you need to do. If you have high-performance applications and need the benchmarking/optimization capabilities, or need to implement charting, you’ll want to get the Pro version. Otherwise, the standard version should be all you need.
I want to know how to start in Flex and I have Basic book of flex but it is not helping me out so can u suggest me How to start working on it.
@vinayak,
Do you have any Flex user groups near you? I always find that’s the best way to learn; from those who are doing it… if not, I’d try Lynda.com for some tutorials, or Flex 3 Cookbook: Code-Recipes, Tips, and Tricks for RIA Developers (if you learn best from examples) or the books Learning Flex 3: Getting up to Speed with Rich Internet Applications.
good luck!
looking for resource files for the book ‘Flash Video for Pros’; some links are empty?
Thanks,
John
hi John,
Chapters 2, 3, and 4 don’t have any resource files, so those folders are empty. All the other files should be in their respective folders. If you have trouble finding any resources, please let me know and I’ll point you in the right direction.
cheers
